Why Trim The Tree?

Trimming Your Trees allows them to put more energy into producing fruit and yields a substantial increase in cherries every season. Trimming your tree also keeps them at a smaller more manageable size making your life easier.

Why Trim The Tree?

  • Each season you will see new branch growth coming from the main stump of the tree
  • There will be flowers growing at the base of the new growth. These, once pollinated, become your cherries. 
  • Once the flowers are identified, cut the branch far enough away from the tree so that no flowers are removed. 
  • The location that you cut the tree will de

  • Once the flowers are identified, cut the branch far enough away from the tree so that no flowers are removed. 
  • The location that you cut the tree will determine its shape in the future. (For example: Trim more of the top growth to keep the tree shorter and more accessible)
  • During the next season. Blossoms will appear at both the original branch growth as well as the areas that you just cut as the tree produced new growth for the upcoming year. 
  • Repeat this process yearly for best results. 
  • WARNING: Do not over trim branches as it can permanently damage the tree.
